“Esiliati, rifugiati, migranti senza documenti – al di là della parola che usiamo per definirlo, il movimento degli esseri umani attraverso il pianeta è una storia millenaria e ripetitiva. Segue le evoluzioni delle nostre civiltà, le loro catastrofi e talvolta le loro cadute”.
Seguendo una dinamica di tipo archeologico, Bani Khoshnoudi si interroga sulle reazioni al movimento migratorio degli esseri umani. Scava nel contesto attuale, esplorando gli spostamenti dei popoli – Transit(s) – attraverso le tracce da questi lasciate.
La regista esplora da vicino la complessità di queste esperienze di cambiamento, offrendo una prospettiva intimista sulle vite dei singoli individui. Affronta la fluidità delle loro identità, riflettendo sulle emozioni, sui conflitti interiori e sulle relazioni di chi naviga attraverso le difficoltà di sentirsi “straniero”, esiliato in luoghi che potrebbero non arrivare mai a una loro piena accettazione.

Bani Khoshnoudi (Teheran, Iran, 1977) è emigrata negli Stati Uniti durante la Rivoluzione iraniana del 1979. Trasferitasi poi in Francia, ha portato avanti la sua carriera principalmente nel cinema indipendente, esplorando la complessità delle situazioni di esilio e le tensioni tra modernità, dislocazione e memoria.
Sebbene Khoshnoudi si esprima principalmente attraverso il film e abbia prodotto numerosi cortometraggi e lungometraggi proiettati in festival internazionali come il Latin American Film Festival; il Göteborg Film Festival; il Miami Film Festival; il Rotterdam International Film Festival; e il Dubai International Film Festival. Grazie alla sua formazione in fotografia e in architettura, ha lavorato anche nell’ambito delle arti visive realizzando progetti installativi in varie sedi quali il Centre Pompidou e la Fondation Cartier (Parigi), la Serralves Foundation (Porto), il MUAC (Città del Messico), e il Museum of Contemporary Art di Zagabria.
“Exiles, refugees, undocumented migrants – regardless of the word we use, the movement of human beings across the planet is a millenary and repetitive story. It follows the evolutions of our civilizations, the catastrophes and sometimes the downfalls”.
Following an archaeological dynamic, Bani Khoshnoudi reflects on social reactions towards human migration movements. She delves into a contemporary context, exploring the displacement of peoples – Transit(s) – through the traces they left behind.
The director closely examines the complexities of these experiences of change, offering an intimate perspective on the lives of individuals. She addresses the fluidity of their identities, reflecting their emotions, internal conflicts, and relationships, as they navigate the difficulties of being “foreigners” in a place that may not fully accept them.

Bani Khoshnoudi (Tehran, Iran, 1977) emigrated to the United States during the 1979 Iranian Revolution. She then moved to France, where she pursued her film career in independent cinema: through which she explores feelings and situations of exile, modernity, displacement, dislocation and memory.
Khoshnoudi primarily expresses herself through film and has produced numerous short and feature-length films screened at international festivals such as the Latin American Film Festival; the Gothenburg Film Festival; the Miami Film Festival; the Rotterdam International Film Festival, and the Dubai International Film Festival. With a background in photography and architecture, she has also worked in the visual arts, producing installation projects in many venues such as Centre Pompidou and Fondation Cartier (Paris), Serralves Foundation (Porto), MUAC (Mexico City), and Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb.
